On the one hand, he's notorious for his negative views and remarks on Austria as well as Austrians. On the other hand, he was the favourite author of my German teacher in the 1980s (which in my eyes wasn't actually a recommendation).<br /><br />I don't know if he's seeing a posthumous comeback abroad. In Austria he is an all-time leading figure of literature like Ingeborg Bachmann.
